Here is the latest News From the World of Disney parks and entertainment including Walt Disney World, Disneyland and Disney Cruise Line for April 6 – April 19, 2018.
Highlights from the World of Disney:
- New FastPass+ options are now available at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
- A new Memory Maker option is available.
- Dole Whips are getting revamped into a new delicious treat at Disneyland.
- The new live-action version of Mulan is making news and not everyone it happy.

WALT DISNEY WORLD
April 9 – Wall pics are now a big thing around the Disney Parks. To up their wall game, the former “Purple Wall” is now a geo-metric design in different shades of purple. (Link)
April 11 – Memory Maker will now offer a one day option year-round. Formerly, it was only available for special events. To get the one day Memory Maker, you can use your My Disney Experience mobile app once you’ve linked at least one Disney PhotoPass photo to your account from the day to which you plan to apply the entitlement. You can also get Memory Maker One Day at Walt Disney World Resort theme park ticket windows and Disney PhotoPass Centers. (Link)
April 12 – The ultimate Disney fan home is for sale in Windermere (just outside of Walt Disney World). The home, decked top to bottom in Disney touches and memorabilia, is selling for $880,000. (Link)
April 12 – The new Star Wars hotel near Disney’s Hollywood Studios seems to be taking shape. Disney has even issued a patent for an in-room show experience. (Link)
April 17 – FastPass+ selections are now available for the new Toy Story Land section of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. (Link)
April 19 – Disney is doing their part to be good global citizens. By the end of 2018, Disney’s solar initiative will produce enough wattage to power two of its four Walt Disney World theme parks. (Link)
DISNEYLAND
April 9 – If you love the iconic Dole Whip then you are really going to love the Dole Whip donut which debuted at the Disneyland Donut Cart. Sounds dreamy, no? (Link)
April 13 – Pixar Fest began at Disneyland. The celebration will end September 3. (Link)
DISNEY CRUISE LINE
April 16 – Disney Cruise Line has a new head. Jeff Vahle, a 28-year vet of the Walt Disney Company. will lean Disney Signature Experiences, which includes Disney Cruise Line, Disney Vacation Club, Adventures by Disney and Aulani, a Disney Resort in Hawaii. (Link)
DISNEY MOVIE/ENTERTAINMENT NEWS
April 7 – The new live action version of Disney’s The Sword and the Stone will begin filming in September 24, 2018 in Belfast, Ireland. (Link)
April 8 – Black Panther can’t be stopped. It has now passed Titanic as the 3rd highest grossing movie of all time. (Link)
April 8 – What a time to be a Disney Universe movie fan! Here is the new trailer for what is sure to be another in a long line of mega-hits, Solo: A Star Wars Story.
April 11, 12 – Several actors have joined or are in talks to join to the new live-action version of Mulan. Donnie Yen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) will be playing Mulan’s mentor, Commander Tung, Gong Li will play the villain, a powerful witch while Jet Li (Lethal Weapon 4) is in final talks for the emperor. Mulan is set to release on March 27, 2020. So that is leading to the question: Where is Li Shang? Apparently, Shang will not be in the new version causing the internet to revolt, as the internet is known to do. (Link; Link; Link)
April 13 – A new Incredibles 2 trailer has been released.
