Welcome to the MouseQuest Podcast- Your guide in the quest for the perfect Disney vacation. This is episode number 79. This week we will be sharing just some of the highlights from the Disney Social Media Moms Conferences that we just attended. The ‘Happiest Place on Earth’ took to the open road to spread pixie dust around the country. With stops in Chicago, Philadelphia and Phoenix, many moms and dads enjoyed incredible information from the amazing social media team at Disney, several motivational speakers, and had the opportunity to network with others like themselves. We look forward to sharing some special memories and tips from each of the conferences with you this week. Questions this week include:

  • Can you give us an overview of the speakers and topics covered at the event in Chicago?
  • After attending the conference in Philadelphia, can you give our listeners an overview of the speakers we had?
  • Can you tell us about the event in Phoenix?
  • Was there a specific speaker that you were excited to meet and hear from?
  • If you had to choose one point that you would really take home and use, what would it be?
  • One of the major components of all three conferences focused on growing your business while still being an active parent. What do you think were the most important points from that portion of the event?
  • From a dad’s perspective, what points would you say are the ones that you’ll use the most?
  • I’m sure there were a lot of points that you’ll be able to use in your daily life, what are your top 3?
  • What would you consider to be the highlights of the entire event?
  • Out of everyone who spoke at the event, was there anyone who you really felt made an impact on you?
  • For those listening who would like to attend a Disney Social Media Moms Conference in the future, what piece of advice or tip would you give them?

Episode 55: Interview with Gary Buchanan, Social Media Managing Editor for Disney

Welcome to the MouseQuest Podcast- Your guide in the quest for the perfect Disney vacation. This is episode number 55. We are incredibly excited about the show this week because we have the wonderful opportunity to speak with someone who knows all about the Disney Parks Moms Panel and how much effort goes in choosing the incredibly talented panelists each year- Disney’s Social Media Managing Editor & Celebrity PR Manager, Mr. Gary Buchanan. We look forward to hearing all about this process and learn more about it from a new perspective.

A few months ago we recorded a podcast that outlined the Moms Panel process as we’ve personally experienced it for the past number of years. However, this year Gary stepped up as the fearless leader of these pixie-dusted moms and dads, and with that we saw some exciting changes to the process as well as some twists along the way. Questions for Gary include:

  • Can you tell us a little bit about your history with Disney and how your role relates to the Moms Panel?
  • Why was the Moms Panel started and do you feel that it has met its original goals?
  • Do you see the Moms Panel continuing in the foreseeable future?
  • Can you tell us about the changes that were made to the application process this past year?
  • What are the minimum qualifications that a Disney fan has to have in order to apply to be on the Moms Panel?
  • How does having (or not having) a social media presence affect an applicant’s chances of making it onto the panel?
  • What top 5 tips can you give guests about the application process? Do any of those change for a veteran applicant vs a first time applicant?
  • Many guests apply year after year to be on the Disney Parks Moms Panel without being exactly sure of what will be expected of them if they are invited to join the panel. Can you tell us what the job of a Disney Moms Panelist entails?

Appearing this week are Amy Bechtol, Gary Buchanan, Dawn Gosdin, and Marci Smith.

Episode 37: Disney Parks Mom’s Panel Application Process

Welcome to the MouseQuest Podcast- Your guide in the quest for the perfect Disney vacation. This is episode number 37. On this week’s show we will be discussing the Disney Parks Moms Panel Application Process. As you may know, we began this journey in podcasting because we were inspired by the Moms Panel and wanted to share our love of Disney in a new way. The time is quickly approaching this year to apply for the 2014 Panel and we are very excited! We hope to share our experiences of the application process with you and would love for you to join us as potential hopefuls.

Back in 2007 Disney put out a call for those of us who love to visit, plan and share Disney magic wherever we go and with whomever will listen to us. Out of thousands of applicants the first group of 12 Walt Disney World Panelists were chosen to spread vacation pixie dust. Now in 2013 the panel has grown to 47 members and encompasses much more than just walt Disney world. Moms and dads from around the world share their love and knowledge of Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, Adventures By Disney, Disney Vacation Club, runDisney and more, even in multiple languages. If you think you’d like to join this group Disney lovers and wonder what the process is like, we’re here to help you understand it a little better. Questions this week include:

  • Let’s start right at the beginning. When and how does the application process begin?
  • There are 3 rounds in the application process and we know the first round is that initial application that will be taking place on September 9th of this year. If someone were to get past the first round and into the second round, what additional things need to be done to complete round 2?
  • What do you think was the most difficult part of the application process?
  • What is the one tip you would give to someone who is applying to be on the panel?

Appearing this week are Dawn Gosdin, Rich Grady, Amy Leto, and Marci Smith.

Episode 20: Disney Parks Mom’s Panel Questions

Welcome to the MouseQuest Podcast- Your guide in the quest for the perfect Disney vacation. This is episode number 20. In this episode, we answer some of the most recent questions submitted to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. As huge fans of Disney and the Panel, we hope this will give us a glimpse into what the panelists come across on a daily basis and also assist us in our journey to become part of that wonderful group. Just to clarify, while we have decided to answer questions from the website, we have NOT read the answers that the current Moms Panelists have provided. Our answers to these questions are from our own thoughts and experiences and do not reflect the opinion of Disney or the Official Moms Panel. Questions this week include:

  • My family will be visiting Disney the beginning of May, and we will be there 5 days. We are staying on Disney property and will spend 2-3 days at the parks. My question is about how much $ can I expect to spend on food for my family of 4 each day?
  • Coming May 2014 with 3 boys 2,4,7. Want to eat at CRT. Is it not appropriate with no girl children? Boys as well as mom would like to see inside of castle.
  • Are there clinics or doctors on site at Walt Disney World if your child gets sick?
  • Me, my husband, & son are coming to WDW for the first time 5/24-5/29. We are staying on property without renting a car. Any suggestions on buying snacks & drinks without purchasing from the park. Also I need help for planning a 4 day park experience.
  • Hi! We be visiting WDW in November the week after my godson’s 9th birthday. He will be coming with us. Is there anything we could do for his birthday?
  • We will be visiting Disney in October, and although we have been there before we have never gone to the water parks. My daughter will be 8 and my son will be 7. Which water park is recommended for their ages? Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon?
  • I just planned our Disney vacation to treat my 4 yr. old princess. We’re doing the My Disney Girls Perfectly Girl Tea Party and the Bibbibi Bobbidi Boutique plus dining with the princesses. Do you have any other suggestions for her to have a royal experience?
  • Going to Disney World the beginning of November and was wondering if you could explain the Disney photo pass + to me I am a little confused? Also, with the photo CD, would I be able to print pictures anywhere or just from Disney?

This week, we also answer the following listener question:

  • Andrea Hataway from Denton, Texas asks:
Where can I find/print/make some cute Disney shirts for my family for our summer trip? We are going July 4th and were thinking of possibly LSU or Disney prints, something cute that my husband would also wear?

Appearing this week are Dawn Gosdin, Rich Grady, Corinne Leon, Amy Leto, and Marci Smith.

Episode 8: Disney Parks Moms Panel Questions

Welcome to the MouseQuest Podcast- Your guide in the quest for the perfect Disney vacation. This is episode number 8.

  • We are looking for a VERY cost effective option that will sleep 7… 4 adults & 3 children (ages 4, 5, & 9). Value resort suites will only let me get prices for 6 people. The plan is to go in the Spring or Fall 2014! Do you have suggestions?
  • Can anyone stay in the princess suite in the castle and if so do you know what the cost is?
  • We recently stayed at Walt Disney World. While we were there I did not buy my 4 year old grandson the Jake The Pirate hat that looked like a bandana with black hair all above it. Where can I purchase it now?
  • I’m going to WDW in exactly 1 month w/ my 5 yr old. We’re set on hotel etc. but I did not include the Dining Plan. We have made ADR for some days. I’m wondering how much to budget per day for meals? We’ll eat bfast in our room (fruit, etc).
  • A group of 10 traveling on Dream Dec. 2013, celebrating 2 quinceaneras. How can we add a surprise element for the girls during sailing?
  • Purchased the DDP. We want to enjoy the restaurants and dining experiences but also want to enjoy the parks w/o stress. Any suggestions on how to do this? Early character breakfasts and late dinners? We want the best of both worlds.
  • My Family and I are having a reunion in March. We are have four standard rooms club level at the Boardwalk Inn. Do all the rooms have balconies? Are there rooms we can request close to the lounge, or with a view? Are any of the rooms adjoining?
  • On the WDW website that Hoop Dee Do Review states “Dining Plans Not Accepted.” The dining plan pdf for 2013 has Hoop Dee Do listed and states that “2 table service meals will be redeemed.” Is this show still part of the dining plan?

  • My kids are 4, 8 and 10. What are the “Do Not Miss” theme parks? This is their first time to Disney.
  • Is there a time of year that is cheaper to visit Walt Disney World in Florida?
  • I am a single dad with three boys 13, 11 and 9 years old. We are thinking about doing a 4-night cruise on the Dream in October. Can you give me a ballpark conservative amount of spending funds we would need for the four days? Also what type of clothes?
  • I am trying to decide if the dining option is really the best bet. Is it really that much cheaper to purchase your meals this way? If I use the dining option, are there a lot of limitations to where I can eat and what can be ordered off the menu?
