Episode 30: Disney Merchandise

Welcome to the MouseQuest Podcast- Your guide in the quest for the perfect Disney vacation. This is episode number 30. This week on the show we will be answering questions about the merchandise you can find in Walt Disney World. From Mickey Plush and ear hats, to snowglobes and Turkey Leg air fresheners, it seems like there is no limit to the souvenirs you can find. We hope that our discussion today will help you find the perfect item on your next visit. Questions this week include:

  • It seems that Disney has really tried to draw people in with their collectible merchandise. There are SO many things that you can get and collect from WDW. The two items that come to my mind as some of the most popular are the Disney pins and Vinylmation sets. When I was collecting pins there were times I felt really overwhelmed because there were so many and no way that I was going to be able to get them all. So as a collector yourself, how do you decide where to start and when to stop?
  • As a person who LOVES to shop, what are your go-to locations in Walt Disney World for unique merchandise?
  • When families visit Walt Disney World many of them come with a tight budget, what are some items you can recommend that are great Disney Souvenirs but won’t break the bank?
  • For the visitors that may only visit Walt Disney World once every 5 years or more, what are your top 5 quintessential pieces of Disney merchandise that every guest should have?
  • In addition to the incredible amount of merchandise that is available throughout the year, there are many opportunities to buy limited edition items at special events that can be difficult to get. What type of strategy is needed in order to get one of those hard-to-find items?
  • Of everything you have ever purchased at Walt Disney World, what is the one thing that is your favorite?

Welcome to the MouseQuest Podcast- Your guide in the quest for the perfect Disney vacation. This week on the show we will be answering questions about the Disney Dining Plan. This is quite a polarizing topic because there are those who love it and those who hate it. Is it right for you and your family? We’ll explore all the options this week and hopefully it will help you decide whether or not to use the Disney Dining Plan. Questions this week include:

  • Can you give us an overview of what the Quick Service and Standard Dining plans include?
  • What about the Deluxe Dining Plan?
  • Can you tell us about the Premium Dining Plan?
  • The last option available with dining is the Platinum Plan, can you tell us about that one?
  • Have you used the dining plan with your family? Do you think it was worth it?
  • If visitors to Walt Disney World DO decide to use the Dining Plan, what would you say are your top choices for the best value at a Table Service, Counter Service and Snack Location?

Please note: In between recording this episode and publishing this episode, Disney changed the pricing of the Dining Plan options. The prices noted in this episode may have changed, so please check with Disney prior to making any decisions about the Dining Plan.

Episode 28: Disney’s Hollywood Studios Spectacular

Welcome to the MouseQuest Podcast- Your guide in the quest for the perfect Disney vacation. This is episode number 28. This week on the show we will be answering questions all about Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This park was first introduced as Disney-MGM Studios on May 1st 1989. In 2008 it was re-branded as Disney’s Hollywood Studios to take the focus away from the Golden Age of movies and re-direct it to the new entertainment of modern Hollywood. This week we hope to share with you some of the highlights about this unique Disney park. Questions this week include:

  • Many people view the studios as either a half-day park or one that doesn’t really have a lot to offer families with young kids. Do you think that’s a correct observation?
  • Even though DHS is the smallest theme park in WDW, it definitely has a lot to offer. Of all the parks it has the most choices for entertainment – What are your top 5 choices for shows and entertainment at DHS?
  • Some of the best thrill rides at WDW are located inside DHS. What are your top 5 picks for attractions at the studios?
  • I know that we love to eat at WDW and although it’s no Epcot, DHS has some great choices. What is your top Table Service, Counter Service and Snack Locations?
  • Throughout the year DHS offers some really unique special events that aren’t offered at the other parks. What is your favorite DHS event?
  • If a visitor had just one day to tour DHS, what are your recommendations for must-do attractions, shows and dining?
  • The Best and the Worst – Name your #1 best and #1 worst at DHS

Episode 27: Dealing with the Unexpected

Welcome to the MouseQuest Podcast- Your guide in the quest for the perfect Disney vacation. This is episode number 27. This week on the show we will be answering questions about what to do when something unexpected happens on vacation. Have you ever lost your wallet at Disney? Gotten sick? Forgotten something at home? I know I have! Today we hope to share some valuable information that could help you on an upcoming trip if something just doesn’t go your way. Questions this week include:

  • Let’s start with an issue that probably happens to more people than we realize – losing something at WDW. If you are at Disney and an item is lost inside the parks, resorts or on a ride, what can you do?
  • Many people who go on a Disney vacation, wherever it may be, most likely has to do some travelling to get there. What can a person do if they leave something important on the airplane or at home?
  • One of the worst things to happen while on vacation is when someone in your party gets sick. I know we’ve talked about this before, but what options do guests have if they get sick or have a medical emergency while on vacation?
  • Another issue that could happen while on vacation is that your party gets separated. I know it’s not as big of a deal for adults, but when it happens to a child it can be very scary and traumatic for everyone. What can both parents and children do when something like that happens?
  • The last thing I was thinking about for this show is when something goes wrong with your reservation or your room. I’ve had issues with both in the past and it can be anything from a maintenance problem in your room to lost dining reservations or park tickets not working. What should guests do when issues like this arise?
  • What is one important thing every guest should know about unexpected things happening while you’re on a Disney trip?

Appearing this week are Marge Gerwels, Dawn Gosdin, Rich Grady, Amy Leto, and Marci Smith.
